Last year marked the 100th anniversary of women being granted the right to vote and the right to run for office in California. It has been over 90 years since the 19th Amendment passed and we could vote and run for office throughout the nation. We’ve come so far in the last century but a prevailing myth still exists; Women should just vote for the women on the ballot because women know what is best for women. While it is very important to increase the number of women representing us in elected office, we need to think first about who truly represents the issues that are the most important to us and vote for the candidate who has always been an advocate of those issues. That candidate is my husband of 26 years, Scott Wilk.
